Interview former Champion Pierre Karsmakers

The end of 2013 we were in the opportunity to interview Pierre Karsmakers. Pierre Karsmakers was the Dutch Champion Motocross 500cc in 1967, 1969 and 1972 and made the big move in 1973 to America, to be promptly American Champion Motocross in the 500cc class (open).

Pierre Karsmakers has good memories with the Motocross of Aces in St. Anthonis. It did not lack in courage and devotion to Pierre, because he finished four times on the podium in St. Anthonis, namely in 1967 (third), 1969, (third), 1971 (second) and a overall win in 1972. During the Grand Prix 500cc Motocross in St. Anthonis in 1968, Pierre Karsmakers was just off the podium with a fourth place, but eventually the best finished Dutchman. Also during the Motocross of Aces in 1970, Pierre Karsmakers just ended off the podium with a fourth place and best finished Dutchman.

Pierre Karsmakers tells us fascinating stories about his wunderful career, his experience with the sandy circuit the Hoef in St. Anthonis and his experience in America. Pierre knew more to tell about his own technique especially to circuit the Hoef. To keep the gas real open until the very last moment on the deep holes and bending the curve at the top.

Pierre Karsmakers has entrusted us to be present during the Reunion Motocross of Aces in St. Anthonis on the 20th & 21th of September 2014 and looking forward to meet his old friends from the Motocross.

Pierre Karsmakers, multiple Dutch Champion Motocross in the 500cc Class, American Champion and winner from the Motocross of Aces in 1972.
